Pemphigus Support Group

Pemphigus is an autoimmune disorder that causes blistering and raw sores on skin and mucous membranes. As with other autoimmune disorders, it is caused when the body's defenses mistake its own tissues as foreign, and attack the cells. There are three types of pemphigus which vary in severity: pemphigus vulgaris, pemphigus foliaceus, and paraneoplastic pemphigus.

I have just been diagnosed with Pemphigus. I don't know what to expect. I see my doctor on Friday for the first time. I am always tired. Is this a symptom of the disease? I also have a hard time sleeping. Let me know what I can expect.

Thanks for sharing. I have not heard of injecting the blisters with a solution. Yes I have gain some weight which I am having a hard time dealing with. I don't even like to look in the mirror any more. I just want to go into remission and soon.

I hope everyone is much better. I have not heard. I was at Emory Spinal Center last week because I had lost my ability to walk for several days. No good news or bad news. Once again the medicine has caused yet another problem. I am however doing much better.

vicky,beside I have already said,you have to avoid exposure to sunlight.It might be no problem to you,but for me here in PORTUGAL it is,as we have sunligh almost the year round.I total protection face cream,and a helmet.Good luck to you.

I was just diagnosed with this disease. I am scared and do not know what really to expect. Some of the internet sites make this sound almost fatal. I was put on predisone. Is there some kind of cream for my lips that are full of blisters? I have alot of questions. I'm glad i found this cause I no very little about this nor do I think my doctor knows either.

Hi jmc I have almost stopped coming on because most have seem to have dropped off. I was scared at first. I was diagnosed last year on New Year Eve. I use a topical gel clobetasol propionate gel. It has been a wonder drug for me. Every time I get something that looks like anything I apply this gel and it takes care of it. You do have to get a RX from your doctor. I hope this helps.

Had the biopsies and they were not conclusive but I believe it is PV.On prednisone 40 and 1 week I am on about my third outbreak in 3 months on Dapsone.Mouth sores, very sore throat blisters on hands torso, scalp. Not eating much,mouth and throat too sore.
I am 61, still working but getting worried.
I miss eating.I miss enjoying a shower, it is kind of torturous,

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
