Was it just your ovarian vein or iliac vein as well ?

Both - Right ovavian vein for the 2nd time and then 4 small veins from the iliac vein branch.

Who is your doctor and where was it done. I had my left ovarian vein embolized which has helped but still feel there is more to be done. My specialist said in Australia they do not treat the iliac veins.

Did you notice any leg swelling or reduced leg size after embolisation ? I did specialist said it was due to pressure build up.

What country are you in Lisa? Have you had a CT Venogram done? It uses dye so that they can see the veins. Ultrasounds don't show the veins. I am in Australia and I just had illiac veins treated as well as the ovarian veins. I was referred to Dr Briggs (interventional radiologist) at North Shore Private (and Royal North Shore) for the procedures.

I am in perth and had it done in sydney with Dr clark. He said to fly back across and he will check the internal iliac vein on right side. Has this helped you so far.

I have 3 daughters. My youngest is 11 and I have had PCS ever since she was born. It took them 10 years to diagnose it. I had a bladder condition - trigonitis - which caused pelvic pain and a history of bladder/kidney problems so no looked past my bladder and kidneys when I complained of pelvic pain..
No varicose veins luckily, only spider veins.

The 1st embolisation last November helped to a certain extent. Definitely glad I had it done.
The 2nd embolisation was only done 7/7/11 so it it too early to tell if it has helped. My body is still healing and I am afraid to push it too much. Hard living in a 2 storey house at the moment - stairs are not good. I drove a car for the first time today (had to get my youngest to school) and that put pressure on my right pelvis which I am still feeling hours later.
Are you in a health fund? The doctor's bills for the 2nd embolisation ahven't arrived in the mail yet but medicare and medibank covered the hospital stay 100% between them - public hospital RNS. The 1st embolisation was done at a private hospital so cost me my $500 health fund excess. The doctor charged $1200 - can't remember what I got back from medicare.The 2 hospitals were both the doctor's choices each time - I just went where I was told and paiy what I have to. It is what it is.
I guess that you should fly back to Sydney so that Dr Clark can check out the right side.

Has anyone had a CT scan done as follow up after an embolisation to check if it worked?

Sharon , was wondering have u had both ovarian veins done and also both iliac veins done ? Did they coil the whole vein or just a portion of it. Did they go through groin or neck ?

I had both ovavian veins done last November.
Needed another coil in the right ovarian vein 2 weeks ago.Also 4 branches of the iliac vein were coiled.
They coiled the whole veins because they were so enlarged. Last November I had 10 coils in left & 8 in right ovarian veins. Dr said that he usually only needs to put 2 coils in each vein - 1 at either end but mine were so large that I needed the extra. In the 2nd embolisation I had 10 more coils put in - 1 more in the right ovarian vein and the rest in the 4 illiac veins (tiny veins).
Too soon to know results. Still have pain from the procedure/recovery and need to rest a lot. The doctor said that it takes 3 months for full recovery from the embolisation (sometimes up to 6 months).
Embolisation was better than doing nothing though. PCS pain was affecting quality of life so it was worth trying embolisation in the hope that it provides some relief and improvement.

Procedure was done lying flat. They inject dye into veins and use the x ray images on the monitors to guide them and see which veins need treating.

Thank you so much for you story. I had the procedure done in my left ovarian vein which was refluxing . He did not coil the whole vein just a section above the hip. When i seen a specialist a week later he said he should of done the whole vein as different paths can form, grrrrrrrrr. Long story short i had relieve and was so happy. I lost around 4-5 cm on my thigh and sweelling in foot wet down.
Recently though i have dull ache back and squishing in bottom . I can feel blood in my bottom.
Were your veins just enlarged or refluxing ?.
I paid $150.00 to see a specialist here in Perth who advised no one doesinternal iliac vein coiling in Australia. I am so mad to then find out yes they do.
Did they coil both your internal iliac veins or just one ?.
I do not mind paying how ever much. I have alot of leg issues which need fixing and the specialist wants to start work but i am holding of as i do not want to pull veins out , then more veins become varicose due to pelvic issues.
The whitley clinic in the uk , is great and has a amazing website coving this whole issues and they do the internal iliac veins.
I had it so bad that i had blood refluxing bown my great saphenous vein leg. My problem is i had no pain till christmas when i got this heavy dull ache and when i sit down i feel like i am squashing blood.

I'm glad that I found this support group because no one that I know has ever heard of PCS let alone has it.
It's good to talk to other sufferers about it because others don't really understand properly.
My veins were all enlarged but there was some refluxing too - not sure if that happened in all the affected veins. Both left and right iliac veins were embolised. Also 2 veins which are small off shoots of the ovarian veins. I had leg pain and lower back pain too - at least that has improved now. Just need the pelvic pain to go away now...
