OH my so sorry to hear that is how it worked out!!
What does your Dr. have to say?? any hope of improvements over the next while with therapy??

I know when my Hubby was told he was not a candident for DBS, he said I can connect you with families who wish they had never had it... Yet you hear all kinds of success stories.

Rajesh, So sorry to hear about your problems with the surgery!!!!! On the NPF (National Parkinson's Foundation) site they have a whole discussion group just on DBS with neuros participating. I would go there and post exactly what you posted here at this site. They answer within a day or so. Also the Dr. who posts is very knowledgeable in DBS. They will suggest things to tell your dr. to do in regard to adjustment. I've read only a few things about DBS and I know it that a lot of people have to get the wires adjusted afterwards. Good luck. My Neurologist(at a movement disorder clinic has introduced Sinemet into my regime after DBS surgery, I am hoping my walking issues must go away. NPF is a very good site, lots of relevant info is posted there

The neurosurgeons in my area basically told me that I was a great candidate for DBS because "I responded so well to Senimet"; if I did not respond well to Senimet they would not do DBS on me. They recommended DBS not when Senimet didn't work but rather when the dise effects from Senimet (i.e., dyskinesia) became too much. Therefore, I am surprised that you underwent DBS when meds weren't working

On the other hand, the good news is that I would assume that even if DBS tuning does not help, that Senimet should help with you motor problems and dystonia. It may take a while to get the dosage amount and timing right so patient; Don't let them start new medications or surgery without first trying Senimet - it is the cheapest and best understood treatrment

i had DBS surgery and very happy with that . I can fell the difference from before and now . I can move even when my meds wear of. I also have hard time walking and use the walker. But that has nothing to do with the DBS. Granted my bad site is t left , its weaker and that is y I use walker , to steady my self . Just fell more secure. The Dr told me before the surgery that the DBS will not fix my leg.I fell in a gym and tore ligament in foot the worse tear i could had , had a surgery let say I not be going through any metal detectors i am officially the bionic women. But i am glad i did it

I had dbs surgery in early April of this year. I had left side tremor big time and slight right side tremor. Also had internal tremor but my legs were okay. When they turned on the dbs I started having trouble with cramping of my left hand and freezing / gate problems with my legs. Both issues were never a problem before the surgery. My original neurologist tried many settings with little success. I would go for new settings every couple of weeks, and no improvement. I even was given permission to change the settings myself within limitations. About four months ago my neurologist gave me a name of a PHD, not a doctor, that only does dbs tuning. He has tried many things over the four months and the current results are good. I have no tremor at all, no cramping, and my legs are starting to work normally. The only thing is the setting don't seem to hold for long and I have to change the setting. I just went two months between appointments and that is a record for me.

Also I have a rare problem with exercise. Any kind of exercise brings on the freezing and walking problem that night real bad.

Overall to sum it up their are many setting possible, you just have to find the one that works for you. It seems dbs is easy to fix the tremor but much more work is needed to solve other problems and fine tuning dbs seems to be an art.

Rajesh i had battery changed after 2 years . i will try to tell them next time I want the chargeable batteries . So the operate ions won't be so frequent.
