Well I know that I've been missing in action here for a while but I've stopped by a few times to check in.:-) I need an advise. I'm going on my 3rd year with stage one Parkinsons and unfortunately the Azilect that I've been taking has'nt really helped that much so after seeing my Neurologist yesterday after 3 months She said that my P.D. is progressing to Stage 2 and wants me to wear a Patch on my arm called NEUPRO? After reading the side effects I;m kinda Hesitant on putting that patch on. Please give me any tips and/or advise?

Hi Will,

There have been quite a few nasty reports of problems with nasty side effect by people who have been Rx'd the patch.

I'm surprised that you weren't started on Sinemet, or its' generic counterpart, Carbidopa/Levodopa! The reason I say that is, I've had Mr. PeeDee on my back for the last 39 years. I began Carb/Levo in 2001, and still take it today, thirteen years later! It is the "gold standard" of treatment for PD patients.

Question: Is your treating Neurologist a MDS, a specially trained Neurologist who treats nothing but people with movement disorders, in which PD is at or near the top of the list.

Just started this patch (2mg) a couple of days ago in addition to my other drug regime. So far it seems like its increasing my energy level and I suspect mood is uplifting. I have not visited a casino yet.

Wow!! Thankyou Friends for all your replies, Tips and Advise! Well sadly to say the Neupro did'nt workout to well for me! The first 24 hrs I was having BAD Side effects and made the decided to remove the patch. A week later I tried it again but to no avail, bad side effects! Tried it again this past Monday night and removed it on Tuesday Morning! This Medication really kicks my Butt! So for now I'm sticking with azilect till i see my Neurologist again.

Sorry for the whupping the patch gave you! Kudos for getting yourself off it right away. Sometimes we try to be a good patient, and wait too long. Prayers that your neuro finds the RIGHT thing for you soon.

Hi Judo - Would you please share your side effect symptoms so I can compare them with mine.

As long as I make sure and put the patch on every day I get no side effects (been taking since July) but if I forget to put a new patch on I get a feeling of just being sick - just feeling bad and then I have very strong feelings of nausea.

Please share your side effect symptoms!!!! Thank you.

Thank You Annie! Hi Deb! Well for Me the Side Effects were a constant Nausea, could'nt slleep, felt fatiqued, Upon waking up I got sick and then felt brain fogged and off balance! My Family advised Me to stop and remove the patch because the Neupro was making me worse then just my slight tremors on my left hand and forearm.. Azilect in the beginning gave me alittle feeling of spacey but I'm now used to it.. I started with 0.5 MG and as of a year ago my Neuro up'ed my dosage to 1.MG. My Neuro told me not to drive while taking neupro and I quickly realized Why! I quess down the road I'm going to have to something else? Best of Luck to You Deb :-).............Will

Hi

I went from 2mg, up to 8mg. I did not have any huge side effects .It did irrate my skin, but they gave me something for that. I didn't noitce a change in my tremors. I sure hope it helps you.
