Parkinson's Disease Support Group
Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. Welcome to the group!
I was just scrolling down through all of the responses, recognising the all familiar signs and thinking how did I miss this post, when I read the last one which made me smile - I'm with you Brian!
This is a great group with lots of support, understanding and advice .....I would not have been able to manage without them all. Diagnosis is such a shock at first, so much to take on board, a roller coaster of emotions and a panic for information.
My parents don't get it either but with mine I think it is more the case that they don't want to. I have been through the talks of no-one in our family has it, are you sure the doctors haven't mixed up the notes, is this because you banged your head and should we see another specialist.
I look forward to getting to know you.
Take it easy,
Julie

It's crazy how people's experiences are similar.
I almost have a similar tale.
I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago, went through the whole pick myself up and dust myself off and deal with it approach.
Your lucky that your family are on board with you cause support is important. I wasn't so lucky with my family but that's another tale.
I found this site and found people who don't judge me and just get it when things feel a bit crazy!
Good luck and please keep in touch

The Parkinson's Disease Treatment Book: Partnering with your doctor to get the most from your medications, by J. Eric Ahlskog M.D. I heard its a Great Book! Looking forward to reading the whole book! Has anyone read this book yet?
Thank you for taking ya time and replying to my post but I'm in the beginning stage of pd and don't plan on dying soon. sorry about your Mom and Uncle!
God Bless Ya my Friend,
JUDO
I started taking D3 after I heard how much better various members of my family or friends said it made them feel - due to the lack of sun living here in the Great NW. I have never noticed even a small amount of improvement. However - I have had my Vitamin D levels checked several times over the past 10 years and the doctors always tell me my D levels are perfectly normal. I continue to take it for that reason only.
For me - just not the "cure" for PD...or even improvement! DANG!!!
Thanks for sharing the article. I'm open to reading anything to do with PD.
