Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
It has been a while since I last posted. Life has been marching on for my daughter and I since her February 223rd disclosure. We have been able to rent a home closer to my friends and my job. (My husband had moved us far away to try and isolate us). I am working on selling our other home. (It has to be a short sale which will be another bad mark on my credit. I have not been able to make a payment for months). I was able to trade both of our cars in for a much more affordable car and I got my daughter registered for her new school. The court case has not been resolved yet and weighs heavily on our hearts and minds. The prosecutor and I believe he will accept a plea deal in order to prevent my daughter from having to testify. He is still being very cooperative and signing all paperwork I send him and assuring me that he will do whatever it takes to make sure my daughter (also his biological child) does not have to testify. However, I received a summons today. So I called the prosecutor immediately and she assured me it was just protocol and that everything is proceeding as expected. I am a teacher and the school year is fast approaching. I am looking forward to seeing my babies this year and trying to find a new normal. My daughter is doing well. During the course of the move she did not go to couseling and I think that has really affected her. The area we moved to has such a high rate of troubled adolescents that no one is taking new patients. I was able to track down a local sexual assault center that offers victims free couseling and I was able to get her in there. As a matter of fact we are in a program that includes the supportive parent in the counseling as well. It is perfect for us. I am hoping it will help us work through this awful mess together in a healthy way. There is still so much to unknot and repair. He has devestated our lives and I am looking forward to The day when every minute of my life is no longer consumed by things I need to "take care of" because of this. Life still feels so scary right now and despite the many blessings we have received, I am still terrified of what happens next.... thanks for listening.

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!
I think the best thing I can say is ...
Mom, you are doing a wonderful job!
In your message, I can tell you're stressed, yet slightly calm.. you are slowly gaining your control, and your power back from what he stole not only from you, but also your daughter...
you are very strong.. you are being very strong too..
I know your still having those 'what did I do' days, but those days are hit and miss... some days it only happens once or twice, and some days it's all day long...
that ok, and very normal..
We are here for you. To listen, to respond, to support, to just be here...
You are a wonderful mom.. don't let the negativeness tell you otherwise!
You are a great person, too!
Hang in there...

This crime takes a toll on most of us financially, so, if might say this as well, screw your credit rating. It will resolve later. Your focus on your daughter is exactly where it should be.
I'm so glad you've found a program for survivors AND parents. I don't believe that's common, although it really should be!
Keep going -- you're doing a fantastic job!
