This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

My daughter was abused on multiple occasions by a neighbor (9 year old boy) and my son was present. She was 3 and he was 6, and they didn’t really understand what was happening. They are both in therapy. I am struggling with horrible guilt (I was home when this all happened and had no idea). I need some hope. Are there any survivors out there who are doing well? What does it look like to heal from this?

My daughter was abused for years by her dad. She's an adult now. She's had counselling and she's a balanced lovely young woman. I think if children are believed and supported it can help recovery so much. You are so brave. It's such a difficult time x

Believing your children is the number one most important, most healing reaction you could have displayed. They stand a chance at a much earlier, fuller recovery than children who wait much longer to disclose (sometimes years) and who are NOT believed and supported.

I hope you will visit this site: www.mosac.net. It is full of excellent guidance and information to help you be a supportive mom as well as a mom who takes care of her own needs through this incredibly difficult time.

Have you reported the boy to child services?

Thank you so much. Yes, he’s been reported, but apparently they’re not going to investigate. I’ll check out that website.

There is healing and I agree,when you believe your child it the first big step to healing.Congrats on realizing your son also needs therapy,just being a bystander can cause guilt that he didn't stop it.Of course we know a 6 year old or any child cannot be expected to protect a sibling from a preditor.I always feel Joy when a caretaker believes,there are stories here on another board where children/ teens finally get the courage to tell their parents and not be believed.Its devastating.Keep supporting your children,Did you file a police report?

I'm sorry for what you all are going through. Currently going through it. My son was abused by the older boy next door. I am afraid of what he will be dealing with when hes a teen. I feel ya, going through it. So your post on another forum, I get it. What do you do when one of your extreme worries comes true? I guess we just push through. I feel the same way you do.

Similar story for me except no sibling. My daughter was abused by an older neighbor boy as well. We suspect that the first incident happened when she was 3 and he was 11, but the assault that she disclosed was when she was 4 and he was 12. We went through a rough few months with anxiety, but for the most part my daughter is living a completely normal, happy life. She did not participate in much therapy because of her young age, but I attended therapy regularly which helped me learn how to help her.
