Wow, what an awesome story! Many thanks for being courageous to your convictions and being proactive. The "I Am Gonna Tell" campaign you started is wonderful. Unfortunately, in our son's case, his brother did tell an adult "friend" of ours, who went and witnessed the abuse happening thru a small opening in the blind to my son's room, and did nothing. We questioned him about it when we found out 3 yrs later, and he said it looked consensual and it was none of our business so his responsibility was to protect my son's privacy--give me a break! His keeping the perp's secret allowed the abuse to continue weekly for another 8-9 months. My son was not yet 16 when it started about 2 mos before the "friend" wtnessed it and the perp was almost 24 and one of my son's band instructors, and coerced him into it--not once did my son really want to be in that situation. So your efforts are also really good for making adults aware about what their responsibilities are in this situation as well as to let kids know not to keep the secret--Tell Someone!!! I'm so proud of you and your daughter for giving so much of yourselves to this cause! Big (((Hugs)))!!!

That is awesome! I'm so proud of your daughter to be apart of that and hopefully help other children who are scared to tell anyone. These dirtry secrets shouldn't be held by the victims, they did nothing wrong and we need a united front. The system has to get changed, this fight is so hard on so man yof us!

my next endeavor will be to get the statute of limitations changed. I'll of course start here in California, then maybe other states will pick that up. If we can get the word out then things will change, I just know it. Thank you.

I want the system to overhauled, where do I start?!? We have been in our 3 investigation now for over 2 months and they have done nothing! CPS and the child's advocacy centers believe my children, as they did the last time, completely, but it is soooo hard to get justice for so many. I know, just from here and our therapists, the system is failing the children and entire communities, which scares me even more!! And, if they don't completely believe us, come stay for a week, and experience the night terrors and such...it's horrible in my home at night!

Btw, where do we buy the shirts? AND, I'm starting a jewelry line that says "keep my daughter safe" and "keep my son safe" Just got the proto's in the past few weeks...pretty excited..and "Survivor" charms will be apart of the line as well :)

I can't be as bold as you, yet, no convictions and my children are very wee, but I can do what I can, while in hiding :) I so wish there was BACA in our state!! Ugh!!!

Keep it up and keep us posted on how it goes! I hope you get national and get into the schools, which, I think is where the message really needs to get....this can happen and if it's happening in your home, you NEED to tell someone (although, in my experience, that doesn't seem to help or matter, my babies have now told 7 different professionals and still, nothing)

BACA is in every state. They are around the world too. They will help with all those night terrors. Call them and find out. I think you first email them then they email, then you call, etc. They will jump all over this. trust me on that one. Hang in there. It does get better. Good luck with the jewelry line too.
