Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
My son (nearly 13 - abuse happened nearly 5 yrs ago when he was 8) is tired of missing out on family functions because the pedophile (his uncle) will be there. He has clearly stated that every family function he misses because of him is one more time that his uncle wins.
My son desperately wants to go to the next one to prove to this monster that he hasn't ruined his life. One part of me wants to cheer him on because I know he's right and another part of me says no way your not ready.
This is something I will definitely make another therapy session for, but I was wondering if any other families have experienced this and what the outcome was? Was it the IN YOU FACE experience your child was hoping for or was it just another trigger?

I do have another suggestion for you and I've mentioned this frequently here. I would encourage you to join the incest survivor group here and read the posts of the survivors who are dealing with what you little angel is dealing with. Not only will it help you but if you can get your husband to do the same maybe just maybe he might look at things a little differently.
My wife and her father have a terrible relationship to this day because her father has continued to minimize her abuse. She was hurt as a young child by her brother and continues that hurt as a 55 year old mother to our 3 adult children. I witness the hurt my wife gets to deal with and I'm afraid to say your husband is headed in the same direction as my father-in-law...

Thank you very much for your kind words, I appreciate them very much. Especially since those kind words come from a person like yourself ! You are very much a hero and inspiration to so many other parents here. You bring to the table so much wisdom based on your experiences of being a survivor and parent of a survivor. I'm just sorry you and all of us have to even be here. I do think however that society is better prepared moving forward to help others deal and heal with Childhood Sexual Abuse.
