Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
You have the extra layer of defense that the girls' counselor told you not to jump to conclusions.
Now, having said all that, I know that while your head may know this information, your heart may not. Personally, I had to have a complete melt down on the anniversary of my daughter's assault before I could really move on. I still regret my decisions and have learned from them, but I know that guilt belongs with the person who committed the act alone.
Here's what evil does: it beats you before you even know there's been a competition. I think evil reached into my home before my daughter arrived home after the first time she was abused across the street. Looking back, it feels like there was a dark fog that crept in through the seams of the windows and doors, blanking out my ability to suspect or to ask the right questions. It was like my powers of intuition vanished that day. I had always been a very intuitive person, often knowing who was calling me on the first ring, long before the days of caller ID. I was still able to intuit big events -- a sudden feeling that something was wrong in the skies about an hour before the first plane hit on 9/11, for example. But when it came to my family, I didn't even get a bad feeling, even when the signs/symptoms were staring back at me starting on that very first day.....
