Im new here....first post. My daughter is being sentenced tomorrow for a DUI causing death. Not sure where to even start. This is so difficult, we are a good family nobody has ever been in jail let alone prison. She won't talk to me about anything she is going through. She acts like I'm not allowed to be upset.

How do you feel with this? I'm so scared for tomorrow.

I know you are a good family. We hear so many bad things that blame parents for their children's choices. This is not your fault. We live in a world that is geared toward making children reject their parents guidance. I hope that she will think long and hard about her choices and grows while she is incarcerated. Kids make mistakes. Even adults make poor choices. Keep writing to her and let her know that she has you and that the mistake she has made does not change your love for her. She needs to deal with this on her own, but will eventually turn to you. I know it is very hard. Be strong. Pray and be well.

She was sentenced to 3 -15 yrs. She is currently still in the jail awaiting transfer to the prison. She has called me daily. Even though it's expensive to accept the calls...its worth it to know she is ok. The jail is in an awful area hence the jail is a dangerous place. Funny to think I'm going to be relieved when she is transferred to prison

Micki...I have to say I've been reminding myself that everyday is one day closer to the end of the sentence.
I will add you and your daughter to my prayers as well.
