I feel your pain. My son is also facing prison. It is the absolute worst nightmare for a mother, but find the good in it somehow. Believe he will get the minimum sentencing and get good behavior etc and be out before you know it. My faith is the ONLY thing keeping me above water. Hang in there.

So sorry to hear. Try and stay positive. It is hard. I'm just at the beginning of this horrible journey- my son will be sentenced next Monday. We as parents suffer to see our children in these situations. Our hearts break because this is not what we wanted for them and then there is the overwhelming feeling of helplessness in an unfair system. I'm not sure if this is helpful- sometimes it helps me to know someone understands.

Thank you for your posts. It feels good to be connected to other women who "get it". I am experiencing a lot of up and downs. The sentencing does not feel fair to me, yet all I can do is accept it. I feel worried about what my son will experience once he gets placed in his prison "home". He is in receiving right now. I am trying to trust God and the bigger picture. Some days I can let go and. Ere are days where I feel punched in the heart. I am doing my best to completely surrender. I think grieving is definitely a part of his process. It's a big loss. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers as we walk through this together.

I know the hurt you guys are feeling. My 18 year old son was taken 2 weeks ago and is facing federal charges. It does help to visit but so hard to say goodbye so we agreed to say see you later instead. I agree, this is a complete nightmare for a mom to go through. My son is a pianist and last night I tried to play his piano and I just lost it. I miss him so much. God bless you all. May each of you find peace and strength to carry on.

Now. Made a silly mistake and then violated when he was almost done with probation and was thrown in jail. The original charges were wrong and I didn't hire the right attorney. The entire system is ridiculous. But we have to accept be cause we have no choice.. I'm so sorry. I'm as heart broken as you are right now

Hi, I have a son in sort of a similar situation, but they were both adults (girlfriend of a year) and she got mad when he ended things....My heart aches every day for him, myself and his younger brothers. I am new here too and looking for some support as well. I don't really know how this all works, but have realized I need something!

I am in a similar boat, but I have 2 sons in prison. One getting out in a month, and the other one is there for another year. My problem is also that I have tried hard not to let people know, and it is getting worse and worse keeping a secret. Now there is a big family event and my one son will not be there. I need to let family and friends know soon. I come from the "perfect family" with all nieces, nephews and siblings who have a lifestyle this will be hard to explain to....help in telling people..what to say? How?

I am doing MUCH better, and grateful to feel more uplifted. I have had to dig so deep inside of myself and
1. Realize that NONE of his was my fault.
2. Surrender to the circumstances
3. LOVE THE SHIT about of MYSELF as I go through this ...

Amandamarie I am new here and to see that you have logged back on and are doing good. Helps me to see that things in time will get better, I hope. Today is a new day am i'm keeping my spirits up. or at least trying to. Yesterday was hard for me I was in tears most of the day not sure if I was going to make it through the day. Im trying to stay strong.

Let me tell you - when I lost my son to prison last March - I hit a bottom that is unexplainable to someone that hasn’t been through this. The grief and the pain is unbearable. You know. The kind that wakes you up at 2 am and leaves you wanting to scratch your heart out because it hurts so bad. What helped me the most was really caring for myself. Thinking positive thoughts in the midst of it all. EFT -emotional freedom technique. Look it UP on YouTube and DO IT. When I decided to hand the situation back over to my son -because ultimatum it’s HIS path... really helped. I have his back every step of the way- but trusting hat our kids will be given grace , protection and a huge life lesson that isn’t ours to fix- helped me . YOU WILL BE OK. You will get through... and your purpose on this earth will grow because of it
