I am really sorry, Cantbreath1972. This is a very difficult situation. Keep working on your own healing.

I have never forgotten those feelings of being petrified for our children all the time and they still come now and then those feelings of what could happen but you can't be terrorizing them either if not for them then for me..need to find a place for me now..

It seems they shove us out of their lives until they decide to use us - again. I would imagine to have a son in prison would be stifling so you must learn how to breathe for your own safety. Lots of exercise increases breathing and endorphins which works on the emotions.

Breath. Its hard I know because my son is serving a life sentence ( three strikes) which I think they should do away with this rule. But hold on and pray. I know how your feelings can run away with your mind. Its not easy. It is hard for me to live knowing my son is doing life. I am trying to find me a friend in this group I am new but I didnt think it would be this hard. Since we are all in the same boat. Please respond.

Shaboola, this thread is not very active and the original posting is two years old. I hope others respond. If you would like to message me you can. Click on my name and it brings up a page, then look to the right side of the computer screen for "message me." My adult children have chosen to estrange from me so maybe this isn't what you are looking for. If you have contact with your son, even if by letter, and you feel depressed, maybe the depression group would help. If you'd like to talk to people in the healthy relationship group or the family issues group, these are options too. If your son refuses to have contact with you, then write back and I'll give you more options. We don't have to have the exact same situation to support and encourage each other.
