Therapy for me

To those of you who are in therapy to help you deal with your ADHD/ODD/XYZ child, do you see your childs therapist or do you have your own? These past few weeks have really taken toll on me, you should see my face, I have a huge cold sore, several zits and dark circles under my eyes! I am hideous and feel about as bad as I look. I am sure it is all brought on by stress. I sent an email to the therapist that has been working with my son for the past month and asked him if he could set up a separate appointment with me, I haven't heard back yet, but I wasn't sure if it was acceptable to see the same therapist as him or not.

On a new note, kids have been out of school for Spring Break this week. This break could not have come at a better time! His resource teacher comes back from maternity leave on Monday, hopefully he'll simmer down. It was like he was lost without her. Not sure if I like that he relies so heavily upon someone at age 13. Hopefully some day he won't need it.

I have an appointment with my child's therapist next week I made it at his suggestion Hope this helps

First I want to thank you for your comment He has just started with theraphy his first real session is next week and at this rate i will need theraphy real soon. The one thing I did talk to a resource teacher I WORK WITH AT A DIFFERENT SCHOOL DIST. AND SHE DID SAY NOT TO PULL HIM HOWEVER FOR HIM TO ELBOW HIM SHE WAS PUTTING HERSELF INTO HIS SPACE AND THAT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM AND THE FACT HE DOES NOT START OFF IN HIS NORMAL CLASSROOM SO IT IS MAKING HIM FEEL MORE ISOLATED

I'm going today to talk with my child's therapist for me. I read the book." ADHD and Me, What I Learned from Lighting Fires at the Dinner Table " by Blake Taylor.It's written by a 17 yr.old ADHD boy.My son read it too. It has been really helpful.Hang in there!

Dark Circles--give your yourself a facial. First steam your face..I have a special thing you stick your face in and the steem hits it, feels so good. Do that for about 10 minutes. Then scrub with facial cleanse, then mosturize, then acne treatment gel. Then put cuccumbers on your eyes and rest for a few minutes. The cold sore I think you can buy something over the counter for that. But it might all be hormonial too, like maybe that time of the month is coming. Plus a face with help you de stress.

But to answer your question..no I just go to his therapists with him. I don't get my own therapist. I do get parent classes through there. It's with a group of other parents who all have kids that are ADHD and we get to learn proper parenting techniques but we also get to vent! Whcih is great. Plus we get to have a "buddy' in there that we can call during the week to talk to if something comes up.
