I find with my 7 year adhd daughter the more I yell, nag, and control the worse she gets. The more anxious I get the worse she gets. Sometimes I just have to take a step back and let her be. and Let me be LOL. Keep your chin up:)

I feel your paint! Today is my ADHD son's 6th birthday and on the one day of the year he should be overjoyed and elated .. with all the attention, cake and presents .. he has absolutely been unbearable. The constant talking back, screaming, kicking/hitting is SO FRUSTRATING. I love my children more than anything and thank God for them - but I cannot do this. One of my favorite sayings is that "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results." I know I need to stop yelling back - but when try to talk calmly and patiently for over an hour and he just doesn't "get it," I can't help but scream. I am going crazy!

Wow...reading all the replies, it's like me!
My daughter recently turned 8. She is on 20 mg. of Metadate, which seems to work well for the most part.
I notice it wears off in the late afternoon, which I can deal with at home.
She is such a sweet, good-hearted child and I hate to see her when she gets overtired or frustrated...it's hard as a Parent to see them act like that and it's not their fault.
We will be seeing a specialist soon for some one on one therapy.
Hopefully he can reach her in a way that I cannot.

I live for the "good" days. The others are so tough. Hang in there. We've had three good days in a row after three months of really tough days. The good ones give me the strength to go on as does this site!
