Please, just stay strong!

What medication is he on has it made any difference. My son had lots of therapy when he was young to help him with his ADHD.

I completely understand and Im sorry you are suffering. It is SOOO hard sometimes, I was going through a very hard time with my little girl for over 3 weeks.I was so emotionally drained I just didnt think I could bear another second of it. Please try to remember that your son isn't horrible even though the behaviour sometimes makes it seem that way.He really can't help it and all we can do as parents is try as hard as we can to help these beautiful children. Try to find any way you can during the day to spoil yourself... a coffee on the deck alone for a few minutes, a nice bubblebath, anything that will give you a few moments to yourself to recharge. It will be alright I promise.

I have my ADD son take B Complex vitamins, Glyconutrients, multivitamin, an antioxidant, and the supplemental support from www.nativeremedies.com.

my son is on 50mgs of Metadate. vitamins didn't seem to make much difference.

we have all had this day. try to remember you do love your son, even though at times we all know thats a far reach.

My son has ADHD and is also out of control. He takes vyvanse in the morning and melatonin at night to sleep. He also takes a mutivitamin. I know that it is tough but as caruTH said Stay Strong....alot is the age and some is also frustration. My oldest son (who is now 29) also has ADHD and he was in theraphy and I was told that alot of the outbreaks are due to out of control feelings that they have. They dont know how to control somethings and that is where the yelling and acting out come about. So stay strong and be patient. You are not alone.

I know how you feel. I was just feeling the same just a few days ago, it felt like there was no hope. Don't give up and don't rely only on "experts" to find the answer. I have done the most with my own research.

how old is your son, mine is 11 and he takes 40mg of ritalin sr. it seems to work well. do they have him on the extended release metadate. big difference!
hand in there, I know its hard, there were days where I hated him. I am homeschooling this year and the one on one attention has really helped. I didnt relize how much of his negative actions were just for my attention. Now that I have time for him he is great. we still have bad days but I dont hate him anymore.

Could his meds be making him worse? Meds made my son worse. Therefore we are med free. I know that med free is not always best for everyone though. Just a thought. I hope things get better. Oh just a thought..try a rewards and consequece chart maybe..it helps my son.

You need to take a break, read more, invest the time in establishing a behavioral management (voucher) system. God it sucks. Tonight after a horrible day with my son, I sent him to bed without bath or dinner only to have him come out of his room 30 minutes later apologizing and when i asked him if he hated me because he was treating me this way, he started crying and telling me how much he loved me. They are just so challenged by there own bodies and chemistry. some day, in the future we may all have gold medal winners! good luck and get some exercise

hi i too have a son with adhd and he on concerta xl 36 mgs its a slow release med that doesnt takes a while to kick in and lasts till end of the school day . he also has melatonin at night to help him sleep . i not very happy with the side effects of concerta he has no appetite and has not put on any weight for over 2 yrs, this is a big concern to me but g.p. says its NORMAL , he also has bad dreams quite often too. he can be very hard work and it is draining . but he is my son and i have got to do every thing i can to support him and help him cope with this , i know its hard and my heart breaks . but we have to keep going and stay positive . i'm sorry you are having a rough time at the moment , but if it helps im here to chat if you want to . take care and i hope things get better for you both soon xx

I'm not going to go on about pills and meds and vitamins I just want to offer you my support. I have been at the end of my rope many times myself with my step son and sometimes you just get to a point where you are at a loss and had enough. My son has been on different meds that have helped to a certain point but the underlying "streak" never goes away. If you need to chat Im' here for ya. Sometimes if just helps to vent about it and get a new look on things.

Yes- I was going to ask the same question as the previous post.. we had the year from hell last year with my 13 year old. He was on Strattera and then Concerta. He has been med free since June and his temperment is 80% better.. THis has been a real eye opener.
Last year I was sure he was ODD. (Oppositional Defiant) .. something to think about!

My son takes concerta 54mg. and after about 15min. after taking it there is a world of difference.
