Parents of Children with ADHD Support Group
This community is designed as an open forum where the parents and guardians of children with ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) can give and receive support, as well as discuss ideas, techniques, concerns, surprises, and challenges they may face with their children.
A lot of times I have a lot of trouble getting my son to bed. He is 9. He always has to have a story read to him and he argues about the length. Tonight he didn't want to go to bed until he found a toy he was looking for. His room is always a mess. I finally get him into bed and I see the toy he wanted sitting on the living room bookshelf. He has a hardtime remebering things. I give him melatonin to help him sleep. He is on medication so he isn't so hyper. He is very stressful to deal with.
My son takes Prozac, Melatonin and Strattera and is 7. We have a tough time with bedtime too. Do you give the melatonin 30 mins before your "lights out". That helps for us. He's yawning and rubbing his eyes, as he does his teeth. Usually goes right to sleep after the story. Oh!! He gets a longer story if I don't have to hassle much to get him in bed=more time to read. I don't nag but do remind.
