My little girl was having a hard time with the meds we tried. We tried three, and each caused a marked personality change as well as appetite suppressant she could not afford. She's almost 9 and just over 40 lbs. It was suggested to me that plain caffeine tablets could help; after all, it is a stimulant as the other meds are, and it's very well known, not a new trial... I tried it and it is very very helpful in just the right amount necessary. The caffeine helps her to concentrate and focus in school, but does not change her mood nor keep her from eating. A generic, drug store brand says one capsule is equal to one cup of coffee. She gets 1/2 that cap each morning before school. If I would remember to give her another half right after school it would probably help her for homework, but I never think to...

Now, she's never been a behavior problem. Her difficulty is in attention and focus and mild hyperactivity like restlessness.
