We definitely cut out one of the very top allergens in this nation, that being cow's milk, eggs unless in a baked item, no friend foods and no peanuts and pork after we had our son tested for food allergies.

In hindsight, my son's stimulant medication was wearing off mid-afternoon causing major irritability and then he would come home and drink his favorite chocolate milk which really set him off. Had we known he had a major reaction to cow's milk - we would have saved ourselves a lot of headaches in the afternoon. The teachers get our kids on the stimulant medications and then we get them ten times worse at home later in the evenings when the medication wear off causes anger issues. Uggh. Not a very good trade off if you ask me. My best to you, Faithfully

I sure do know what it is like. We dealt with that when our son was on meds. We put him on the feingold diet (no foods dyes, etc.) and what a difference. He was able to go off the meds too. Meds wear off. The dyes, etc. triggered all those symptoms and we was okay all 24 hrs. Look into it.

my son has a severe milk allergy, so that cuts that out. but i try very hard to avoid all processed foods. and cook for them. he is the worst when it comes to junk food and eating garbage. the issue is he is 13. and goes out with friends and goes on a junk food craze. i talk constantly about it but he just loves junk. i would try as long as you can to keep them away from all process, junk, additives. all kids. this is the first generation that is not going to live as long as there parents. but lets be realistic as well. you can cut all of it out. but you sure can do a lot of it. good luck

There are lots of items considered "junk food" that are free of artificial dyes, flavorings, preservatives, etc. and that kids like You just have to know which ones they are. So you CAN avoid it. That's why I joined the Feingold Assoc.

BTW, many of the members avoid dairy 100%.
