To say it sucked would be an understatement. She did manage a Merry Christmas, I love and miss you, wish I was there text but wouldn't respond when I sent her back one. To know that she is not with her family because she chose not to be because she prefers her DOC and the lifestyle that goes with it, kills another little part of me inside. I keep saying I don't have what it takes to be the mother of an addict, but what fucking choice do I have? I know her addiction won't kill me but if it creates a monster out of me, what good is living? I feel dead inside already. I faked Christmas for my family's sake. My father was visiting after a 17 year absence, I was cheerful and engaging with my other 2 kids, visited family and friends- good Christmas. But there is a hollow spot that intermittenly is dead and then firing pain. I fear I will continue to lose my sense of joy, contentment, peace, faith in humanity, etc. I'm in fear of becoming so jaded and cynical that I die a lonely, bitter old woman. And yet, I don't know how to move past this. To hand her life over to her and detach. To not worry constantly. To find joy in something. To not feel the agony at every moment. Call me an idiot but I bought her a present and made her a stocking knowing she wouldn't show but hoping anyway. And still allowed myself to be crushed when she shunned me once again. How to continue putting one foot in front of the other? I'm soo tired.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
We don't have family nearby so we've learned to create "new" family members. Our son said he was going to "drink all day" and probably did.
The choice is mine as to whether I let this destroy my day or not.
We have been dealing with the challenge of the choices my son has been making since he was 15 years old. We get through the holidays and find ways to truly enjoy them...regardless.
Yes BAB09, One Day at a Time.
Maybe you'll be able to make a good resolution for this New Year that is best for you!! Make some good plans and stick to them. Getting yourself out of that black hole that's sucking you in could really help.
Good luck and all the best!
