My 2 1/2 year old son is suddenly acting up again. We already went thru a terrible 2's stage and I thought we were past it and now suddenly he is completely misbehaving and doing things he didn't do before. He used to sleep very well in his own bed and now he cries and screams constantly, when you tell him "no" he does things anyway, he tries to hit you when he gets mad and he's now started whining really loudly. He has been thru some changes lately, I was pregnant and on bedrest for a while then admitted into the hospital for almost a month until my triplets were born very prematurely. So he spent those few weeks here at home with his dad. I'm home now and our babies are in the NICU but we have tried to always keep things normal for him. He goes to preschool and is still doing fine there. I'm sure the changes have something to do with his behavior but I just don't know what else to do. Any ideas? Thanks :)

As hard as you try to keep things normal, he is old enough to know that things are different. You were gone for almost a month, after all. And now that you are home, you look different because you aren't pregnant any more. And the babies aren't home and I'm sure he knew you had babies in your belly, so that is weird for him. And he may sense any emotion you are having about your babies being in the NICU. All this can really mess with a kid's behavior. He's doing well in preschool because that is still normal, nothing has changed there. Just try to keep things for him as consistent as possible, including discipline. And I would try to explain to him what is going on, he is little but he's not dumb, he knows something is up.

It's rough even going through it the first time, we are just now hitting that stage. I was told when we had our second boy that it would take almost six months for our oldest boy to warm up to his little brother. I feel like the best thing at this point is to try your best to be consistent and to keep your frustration in check...your son is probably just as frustrated as you are. Good luck and remember that they are only little for a short time.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
