My son is 2 years 8months old. When he was younger he had a lot of ear infections, one right after another. In December of last year I asked his doctor about him snoring which she sent us to a great ENT. The ENT did a scan and a hearing test and told us that my sons adenoids were taking up 90% of his airway causing him to snore and also cause fluid to build up in his ears. We then scheduled him to have his adenoids and tonsils taken out and tubes put in his ears in the beginning of January this year. Now at a recheck of his ears his speech hadn't taken off like we thought it would and he is deffinitly behind his cousin who is 4 months younger. So we then decided to do a speech evaluation which showed that he was 4-8months behind in his development. Now we are on a month long waiting list to start speech therapy.
Now here is my question, yesterday we tried to get him to lick a spoon, he would stick his tongue out but not very far, and the tip would curl under because the frenulum goes all the way to the tip of his tongue and gets caught on his teeth. We had never noticed this before, and I'm wondering if it could also be affecting his speech? Should I call his pediatrician to have her look at it and maybe endwash up getting it trimmed? or should I just wait until his speech therapy starts and see what they say?

The procedure to correct it is fast. They basically coderize it off and it heals almost instantly. Then he will hbw to relearn to use his tongue as it will be very different. Make sure to Dina a pedi that specializes in it for the procedure in older children as I am not sure how it differs when it is done on older kids. Good luck an kudos to you for finding it!!!
