SEPERATION ANXIETY! help!!!

My daughter is 2.5 and her seperation anxiety is horrid! Just out of the blue and only with me! She freaks to be alone with her dad. I mean screaming, flailing limbs, slapping herself in the face, pulling her hair bad! We got a gym membership with a daycare, and yhe daycare wont take her! So I have to rely on family. And though they wont say it I know they are bothered by the hour of screaming! I need help!!!!

Ughh..just wanted to bump this up for U. I don't have advice but I know lots of people have this issue. I guess maybe trying to find the reason. I would think something triggers it..can U leave her with anyone? Is she is pre school?

I wish I had an answer for you. My DS is 26 mos and is starting with wicked separation anxiety again. I have no idea what to do either. I've slowed down good byes, opposite from how he was an infant, to give him some control Some days it works others it backfires and he goes crazy. Any other big changes going on that could be affecting her??? I know right now for my son control is a big issue so I let him have a lot more where I can, and I tend to get more cooperation where there is no latitude. Good luck.

Me too, me too! My son is 27 months and it started happening 2 weeks ago out of the blue though I have been leaving him on a regular basis since he was 6 weeks old! I thought it might be because he was getting sick and then we had to leave town for a funeral without him, but we will see how it goes tomorrow. I read that having a transitional object can help, but I just don't think he'll take to anything in particular. He is still attached to his pacifier but only at night and I don't want to go down that road. He is also very anti-Daddy and anti-Grandaddy right now. It's so weird! Hope things get better for you--it's just nice to know I'm not the only one!

I have an 11 month old that starts screaming whenever anyone leaves! He can be with me and if his dad leaves, he's bawling! Same if he's with daddy and I leave. He's okay being left at daycare, I think because thats every single day with the same person at the same time, but anyone else and he's screaming. He has his little ducky blanket that he absolutely has to have with him or he will not stop crying, but even with that he still bawls for at least a little while (although he's pretty easily distracted at 11 months so not usually long fits).

I wish I had some advice too! Its terrible having to leave him and I hope it gets better before he is the age of all your children. At least for now I can pick him up and basically control it due to his age.
