Does anyone here that has transitioned their baby from two naps to one have any advice? My baby is almost 15 months old and she's starting to not want to take her afternoon nap. Even after an hour of trying to get her to sleep she just won't go down so I give up and start playing again and then put her to bed a little early. This has happened about 3 times. Do you think it's time to transition her to one nap? I was going to try to push her morning nap back today to start the transition but she seemed so tired. I'm not sure when to start the one nap thing.

I think my DD transitioned to one nap at about 15-18 months. I usually would follow her lead. If she started yawning, rubbing her eyes or she was very quiet...I would put her in her crib and walk away. She would sleep for three hours straight.

i think my son was just over 12 months when he cut down to one nap a day. his ped. said this was normal. after realizing that he wasn't having an afternoon nap anymore, we started putting him down late for his morning nap. i think at the time, he would nap for 3 hours. now at 18 months, he's down to a 2 hour nap.

I switched my daughter to one nap aroung that age also. I kept her up as much as I could and then when I finally put her down she slept forever. It took a few times for her to get used to it but now she is 2 1/2 and she still naps for 3 hours everyday. Good luck!

Yes, this is the age. I remember how difficult it was because the afternoon nap went out the window but pushing the morning nap back caused problems. I pushed the morning nap back by 1/2 an hour at a time until I got it to occur after lunch. This took a few weeks, if I remember correctly. And when my little one would act tired or cranky in the afternoon, I would put her down for a nap...or quiet time. She didn't sleep... but she would love to cuddle with her silky and babble in her crib. And it gave us both a nice 30-60 minute break.

Trying to hold off to only do 1 nap. It's hard when my son get's sleepier a lot faster than his sister. When I do push their nap later, yeah they sleep for a good 2+ hours.

I'd been letting my daughter (2) nap whenever she wants, which is usually twice a day, because it worked for her and me. But yesterday, she took one extra long nap and then, at bedtime, she kept getting up, wanting her daddy...all night long! So I've only let her have one 45 minute nap today. Wish me luck.
