If I give her a toy she get's angry when I need to take her one hand away to pull it through the sleeve. I've tried the 'where's your hand? oh there it is!' routine. She just looked at me like I was silly lol. I even went out and bought an Imagination Movers DVD because she likes them so much and play it when I'm getting ready to dress her. She caught wise to the fact that it only went on during dressing time.
And since she learned to walk about a month ago it's even harder....chasing her down with a shirt in hand!
When it's time to get her dressed, don't let her SEE the clothes. Choose something that is a little big or loose on her and not too fussy (not too many buttons and zippers). While you are cuddling her and talking andplaying or whatever, just quietly slip one arm into the sleeve....and KEEP talking/singing/ec. Then, the other arm, etc.... The idea is that by the time she realizes what you are doing, your nearly done. If you do this enough, it might help her stop associating getting dressed with such a hissy fit.
My son went through a phase where he HATED diaper changes and would battle me on them just when walking towards the changing table -- no matter what. So I started using this tactic for him. Getting him good and distracted with a toy or play or a song and by the time he realized what we were doing, I already had him on the table with his pants off. By then there is hardly anything for him to fuss about.
I hope this helps....let us know...and if all esle fails....she can starta streaking trend on her birthday!
