Em had her first at 9months,...then I trimmed her bangs a few times...then she had another real haircut at 19months....I had blonde curly hair till 3....then it went away..I don't think it has anything to do with the haircut...I now have straight brown hair!

My son had his cut at around 14 months and it was SO long it was curling over his ears. I've since had a SECOND haircut done....his hair grows SO FAST like his daddy's.

We found it worked best if he got his binky, could hold his blanket, and sit IN our laps. He sometimes turns around to FACE US or get hugs from us and the hair stylist just works around it....Also, he did better if he didn't SEE the instruments coming. Just plan to be fast, keep her favorite snacks handy if need be, and know that you'll have to just do the BARE MINIMUM to trim her up the first time or two.

Lucas has like 2 hairs so we are no where near needing a haircut...lol Im not sure if that is an old wives tale or not BUT my cousin had a head full of curls when he was a baby and my uncle got it all cut off and they never grew back either. My aunt was heartbroken...lol Same with my niece. She had beautiful curls and cut her own hair...so they had to give her a VERY short haircut. Her hair came back very wavy and wild but the tight little curls never came back. You could just trim her bangs and leave the rest to continue growing.

I cut my daughter's hair as soon as her bangs started getting into her eyes. She was about 12 or 13 months. Instead of going to a hair salon where she has to sit still for a set amount of time, I read up on hair cut tutorials for toddlers and did it at home.

Its actually really easy to learn how to do it yourself. Youtube has heaps of tutorials. You can pick up professional scissors pretty cheap and you save a lot of money in the long run. You can even get away with using buzz clippers if you are careful.

For me, I put on DD's favorite dvd and buckle her into her booster seat. Sometimes I put toys on her play tray and she will not even notice what I am doing until I am already done. DD's hair grows so quick that I have to trim it twice a month. I've only had to cut the bangs, a small section from eye to eye. Unless the back of your baby girl's head is unruly or has a lot of split ends, you shouldn't have to touch those girlish curls for a long time. They look cute when they are long- DD's is about halfway down her back and they bounce around happily as she runs through the house. Its adorable. :o)

When my son was a little over a year, he sat on my lap to get his hair trimmed.

Now, with my granddaughter as I did with my daughter, we've been putting cute barets in her hair to hold bangs out of her eyes. She loves getting her hair done. We use a LARGE toothed comb and start at the bottom gradually moving upwards so as not to tangle. We both want her hair long and it's a gorgeous head of hair. We only trimmed it when she was really young and uneven. We have every imaginable color of barets to match her clothes and she looks forward to having it done up in ponytail, or sideways ponytail or pigtails or just down w/baret to hold it out of her eyes. Her bangs are really long now and the back is almost to her waste. Son wants is long as we're both long hair people. In the pic of us, she was one year old and you see the little Pepples look with it on top of her head. She let me do it then and still lets me.
