I'm sure it will get better when she learns she cant get away with it.

I know its tough my 3 year old has my attitude, n she tries to tell me off, but shes finding out quickly that mommy can out attitude her any day.

From my experience, three is DEFINITELY a more difficult age than two. I have three children and right now my son (#2) is right in the thick of three. There is a light at the end of the tunnel though, as he will be turning four in October! I have noticed in the past few weeks that my son is starting to be more reasonable and I haven't been having to punish him as much as I had been. From my personal experience, I think that three is an age where the child is better able to articulate their thoughts and feelings and they feel the need to test their parents. I think as the fourth birthday approaches, kids usually mellow out a little bit and things get better, at least for a little while. My oldest daughter will be seven in a few short weeks and I have been noticing some sassy attitude from her that I do not appreciate. I suppose this is just to get me prepped for the teen years...right? =) Good luck!

Three is pretty bad.. Four is def better tho!!! MUCH better! Five is AMAZING! Good luck toughing it out!!

For me 3 was better than 2. My son definitely started listening more. I should mention though that I'm pretty mild and we only deal out time outs for serious offenses.

Similar to the last comment, we only use time-out for serious offenses or situations and have only had to use it less than a 5 times in her 4 1/2 years of life. I am also pretty mild with a go with the follow perspective. However, my opinion differs in that 3 is worse than 2. From my experience, during three years old, she understands independence and wants to assert herself which can result in (minor) issues at times. Throughout 3 years old, they are testing boundaries to determine where they stand, what they can get away with and so forth. I think it just comes down to how you approach it. I am relaxed about most things, but have firm boundaries and limits. This structure allows for consistency along with a relaxing and fun attitude to go along with it. I would not worry so much about what others tell you, because every child is different. When you keep doing what you know is right for you and your child, everything will be fine and work itself out. Hang in there! With my oldest (who just turned 5) 3 was much worse, but my youngest just turned 3 so I am not sure-he was certainly much worse at testing at 2 than his older brother. With him his mouth was the worst at 4-he waned to argue with EVERYTHIN! I think part of that really was him just trying to learn &figure out things, but he thought he knew it all at 4. I have heard 5 is awesome-hope so! Guess there will be ups and downs for many years :) I agree with some of the others I really do think 3 is the age where they start to test us more and are establishing their independance. Just yesterday my 3 year old was pretty much saying look what I am doing mom just to see what I would do-he had already been warned about throwing sand & he started throwing it again just to see what I would do! Anyway, nice to read what others think & see that we are not alone! Hope it gets better for you!

I loved three...well every age actually. I think it is best to tune out the folks who try to tell you that a particular age is "the worst". Every child is different and so is every day.

Just be thankful you have your sweet little one and hug her tight every day.

Perhaps since I didn't get married until I was almost 40 (not the way I thought my life would work out) and had a baby later in life, I am coming from a different perspective.

I'm grateful for her and I love her. But that doesn't mean she can't push my buttons! :)

And she's good at it, plus I sort of hate all the independance lol. It makes me feel useless. She gets dressed on her own, pours her own cereal (I still do milk) gets in and out of the car alone, can get onto the bar height chairs on her own, can turn on the TV and get to her own channel alone....and she can drive me nuts all alone too!! lol
