I know it may be hard but you really should try to get her on a schedule. I have custody of my grandson & he was always home with his mom or my dad & he was allowed to do what he wanted/when he wanted..Unfortunately my daughter went to jail & my dad passed away so I had to put him in pre-school & he is having a hard time following their schedule..He doesnt want to stop playing to move on to something else because he didnt have to at home..Your daughter will be starting school soon so it will help her to be on a schedule for that..
You could also start teaching letters, colors & shapes to get ready but do it in a fun way..I like to make up songs, etc..Have fun

pnace is right! i was a daycare teacher, and i know how kids with no schedule are. when we have my stepson, we do art projects, and there are a few things he can already do on the computer! he knows how to work the mouse and click. and he will be 4 in 3 weeks! we do playdough, we have clean up time, lunch, naptime, snack, more guided play:)

We have playtime and do things but just not the same time every day. I guess it would be easier if I planned what I needed to do the day before and stick to it.
We read Bible stories today and worked on her letters and numbers. Shes knows her colors and shapes already. She didn't watch much t.v. today so that wasa change and improvement.

My son is 3&1/2 and is helping me plant seeds and plants for a little herb garden. He's loving it! He's really into seeing whether the seeds have sprouted or how much things have grown. He likes to help water the plants too.

My oldest daughter is 4 and I make sure that we spend time out every day, whether it be going to the park, beach, library, swimming or for play date with friends. When we are at home we do baking, craft stuff (she has alot of art stuff like glue, stickers, scissor etc) and she also loves her activity books (learning how to write etc) and play board games like Snakes & Ladders. I strongly believe the children need to learn to play on their own so when we are at home alot of the time she will either do things on her own or play with her younger sister but I will always make time for them both too. As the others said, routine is important and kids actually thrive on it.

We dont have a schedule at our house..except meals...and we get through just fine...we go to the park on a whim...go window shopping down town...go on a walk through a nature reserve or by the lake....or just up and down the neighborhood...we cut up paper and finger paint outside...we use a cheap blue swimming pool and easle and paint away...we make big messes and clean them up...we make cookies and read stories...Its a free for all...clean up time is okay because its part of playing...except the fun of getting the toys out is now the fun of craming them all back in....if your exhausted and out of ideas...most book stores carry books filled with toddler activities..or look through on at the library during story time...
