ds had been peeing in the potty consistently for months but not having a bm on the potty. one weekend when dh went away, I thought "now is my chance to make this happen with out any inconsistency".
So, ds was very consistent about having a bm within an hour after lunch. so, right after lunch, I took his underwear off and let him run the house naked. then when he said "I have to poop, where's my pullup?" I took him into the bathroom with toys and a book for myself and said, we'll have fun in here until you go poop on the potty.
then I proceeded to ignore him and act disinterested (that was the key, trying to act like I did not care if he went or not) and read my book. after a while, he did it, because well, he had no choice. there were no pull ups in there and he wasn't the type to squat and go on the floor. ( I think I would have probably made him at least help me clean it up, if not do it all by himself, that probably would have put a stop to pooping on the floor very quickly)
so I gave him a big reward that was a big deal to him (using the real vacuum around the dirty wood stove) and only let him do it after he had a bm on the potty. somehow it worked!
so, how is it going for you lately?
