Maybe yoy can start with a secruty blanket maybe when he get more mobile like lifting his head and rolling over, my son sucks on the tags on a tigger doll when he was 8 months, and my daughter a secruity blanket about the same time. before that they were good sleepers but it just happened, its going to be so hard to break with her 3 and him 1 but it worth the quite nights, I don't know about the pacifier. I think that is something till he can grab it then you will probably have to continue unless you break it. That usually involves crying it out for a little or rocking to sleep but again that creates something else.....
best of luck...
she may consider getting rid of it altogether. once he gets used without it during the day..no problems at night either.
nosuch thing as a spoiled or naughty baby tho....
Babies need something for comfort, and if it's a soother then let it be. Like I said though, my daughter is weaning herself off of the soother. She no longer uses it to fall asleep, or needs it to calm down. If she uses it at all it's as a teething toy and she just chews on it.
I would worry about breaking him of it when he is a little older. Personally, I have nothing against a soother, but I think the habit should be broken by a year, as well as a bottle. My daughter has been off the bottle for three months and I hope the sucky goes just as easily!
Tell her good luck!
