Paranoia Support Group
Paranoia is a disturbed thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. It is often associated with psychotic illnesses, sometimes schizophrenia, although attenuated features may be present in other primarily non-psychotic diagnoses, such as paranoid personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.

basically i don't know (obviously) what is wrong with me and haven't found help from any doctors or medications over the years so i am looking for some insight i guess. my problem basically is hearing people say things or thinking people know what i am thinking. i know these r symptoms of schizophrenia but i know i don't have schizophrenia. idk how to even explain it really but i am going 2 try. when people r talking around me and i can't quite hear what they r saying i think i hear them say strange things. i know they probably aren't saying what i'm hearing but that is what my mind hears or something and then i think they know what i thought they said, but they didn't actually say, and start making fun of me because i thought they said something. i'm just gonna give an explanation now and hopefully someone out there can help. so i go to work and i am talking to a supervisor to find out where i need to go and i can't quite hear what he is saying and for some reason i hear the words pretty girl from him. so i know he did not really just say that but now it's like he knows what i just thought he said. and now i hear that all of the time at work and even heard this woman the other day say "yeah she's real pretty". i thought people could not read ur mind or if i hear someone say something different from what they r saying how would they know what i thought they said? i get laughed at and made fun of and i hear clearly some things people say. how would they know that unless people know what i thought someone said?

It's okay. Nobody can read your thoughts. I used to think that alot when I was little especially. I was scared teachers could read my thoughts and they were talking about me and making fun of me. I have reasons though. And you have reasons why you are afraid of that happening to you too. You don't have schizophrenia since you are not actually hearing these things that aren't there. Or, are you? I may have misunderstood. But anyway, it seems that you are worried that people are saying different things about you and then making fun of you for it. Or that they think you said something when you really didn't. Also, are these people really laughing at you, or do you just have a feeling that you are the one they are laughing at? Because if they really are laughing at you there are things you can do about that too because they are being immature and wrong. If you maybe just think they are laughing at you because of what you thought, then that's different. Believe me in that they cannot hear your thoughts. Just think about it. If they could hear that one thought, they would hear all of your other thoughts and say something to you about it. You know? So don't worry. :) And you;ve seen doctors, but have you seen a therapist? They are better and actually care about you.

I know this post was made a while ago but I just want to say that I really hope things have gotten better for you over the years. This sounds serious to me and I really hope that you have found the help that you need. I just wanted to take this time to write my own post so that I can encourage and support whoever is still reading them. Thank you for the courage to post originally, and I wish you all the best of luck.
