I have always had anixtey and depression but panic attacks are new to me. I don't know how to cope with them and it seems to be taking over my normal life. I'm lost and confused. If anyone has any advice it would be great.

I started getting panic attacks after my anxiety developed earlier this year. It scared me so much because I didn't realize what exactly I felt at the time, I was out of my mind scared. Learning about them and being aware is key, remember to do deep breaths and talk to yourself as you feel one going on. Try your best (and I know it's hard) to not give in the fear of what's going on. I kept thinking to myself "hey this is gonna pass and don't turn it into something bigger." When you realize that it's happening, be aware of it and ride it out. If it gets too much I ended up going to my general doctor and she prescribed me with a low dose of anxi anxiety/depressant combo that helps with panic attacks. When you have time throughout the day try picking up relaxation techniques to calm your mind more such as meditation videos, relaxed breathing. I hope this helps, I know it's tough and can be scary but believe that it's only temporary if you find yourself in one. Stay strong!!

I started having panic attacks a year ago last May. I had no idea what they were or how bad they could get. I did a lot of research, going by my initial attacks. But then this year they became much worse, I did more research and when I ended up in the ER I finally realized how devastating they can be. I'm currently trying different herbal supplements and am having some success. Also, videos on youtube by David Daish are helpful when I'm having an attack. And videos on breathing techniques are helpful too. I wish there was more support for senior citizens suffering from panic attacks. PA present different problems for the elderly than they do for younger individuals. It just isn't the same. Stay strong! You aren't alone.

Why don't u private message me. I have had panic and anxiety for years and I am no expert at it but may be i can be a listening ear.

You can private message me too. But most importantly identify what triggers your panic attacks. When I get them, I usually try to regulate my breathing at the same time I distract my mind by reading something or just get up to do something. Sometimes I would walk it out. Just now that this will pass ok? You are strong and you will get above this :)

I love guided meditations on YouTube. They've been a lifesaver for me. Jason Stephenson, Michael Sealy, Rasa Lukosuite, Lilian Eden, Louise Hay ...any of those have the most soothing voices. If you type in "guided meditations for panic attacks" tons of stuff will come up - you just have to find a voice that resonates with you. They're scary, but they always end : ) Lots of prayers and well wishes to you <3
