I have tried many medications in the past and none seem to work without me attempting suicide or making me really suicidal. Effexor is the only one I've been on where I don't attempt but still think about suicide.
I have been diagnosed with depression, panic disorder and borderline personality disorder and also some bipolar. I have been on meds for bipolar before that didn't work. Now my doc wants me to try Seroquel and I'm scared to death. I've heard bad things about it
I know it affects people differently but ANY THING ABOUT SEROQUEL PLEASE (Good or Bad).

I am on Seroquel. All it does is make me a zombie. I take 200 at night. I am suppose to take 500 through out the day, but can't because all I do is sleep when I take it.

I took Seroquel for 3 years. The only reason I stopped is because I was trying to get pregnant. I also took Effexor and Depakote along with it. My side effects were restless legs and it made me VERY sleepy. I didn't take it until I was ready for bed. I accidently took too much one night and I felt very intoxicated. Just be careful until you know how you are going to react to it, but it did work in the treatment of my panic attacks.

Thanks for your comments. My doctor also wants me to take Seroquel with Remeron. The Remeron makes me sleep already so don't know why he's adding the Seroquel probably for the panic but I feel I wouldn't do anything but with taking both. I just don't understand. I guess the doctors do.

A lot of people including myself experience heavy breathing, fast heart rate and heavy drowziness. I can sleep 14 hours and still feel drowzy waking up

Hi everyone, and 'thinkpositive', I really understand your concern. I have been taking Effexor XR for panic attacks for years; it has worked very well for me. As to adding Seroquel to the mixture, I take 50 mg. at night and it helps me sleep, what it does is shut my brain down so my mind is not spinning all the time. The largest dose of Seroquel I have every taken is 100 mg. but I demanded to be cut down just because I take so many meds for my fibromyalgia and other health issues. My husband is a severe Bi-Polar Manic/depressive and his psychiatrist decided to use him as a guinea pig, he prescribed 2700 mg. a day, the max. is 900 mg. He almost died from a severe side effect, neuroleptic malignancy syndrome, and now cannot take any meds for Bi-Polar. It all comes down to this, in my opinion, you have to take charge of your medications and not assume that the doctors' are always right or know what they are doing. Tell him you want to go down to 50 or 100 mg. and see if it helps, there is no reason to start at 200, you will be a zombie. Also, it takes about 3 weeks to adjust to Seroquel and during that time you will experience being sleepy. Good Luck. MommaD47
