Xanax is popular with drug addicts who have run out as it tides them over for a while
in Australia a huge amount is prescribed by docs, some of it being sold on the street to addicts or to casual drug users
theres nothing special about Xanax, its just 1 of many valium type pills. it starts and finishes acting quickly, so is very helpful for panic atatcks
however years ago it was thought Xanax had a special panic attack blocking ability and so it was promoted as the cure for panic attacks. most docs didn't know anything about panic attacks back then, so they learned about panic attacks and Xanax as the cure at the same time
later it was realised that Xanax had no special panic blocking ability
antihistamines sedate some strongly and were popular until valium came along, travel sickness pills are helpful for some of us, they are different to the valium type pills

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

For westerners, this is the other side of the world, where everything is exotic and unfamiliar. Piracy is still a problem on the Java Sea, and English is not widely spoken. The Java Sea is about 1,600 km long, 400 km wide, and loiters loosely between the islands of Borneo to the north, Java to the south, Sumatra to the west, and Sulawesi to the east. The equator is a few degrees north, so...
I have been house bound with agoraphobia before. I took Xanax over 20 years ago for a couple of years and spent most of my time trying to go off of it. Now, I look at it differently. I take 2 low-dose X a day. Once in the morning (when my anxiety is at it's worse) and one an hour before bedtime and I've never slept better.
I don't like to believe that I might need to take this forever; but, if I do have to take it I will. I can now hop on a plane and fly anywhere. Go rent a car and drive across a long bridge. I've had this for over 35 years and I've spent too many years trying to tough it out.
I walk most days. I stay away from sugary foods and treats and coffee and have only 2 teabags of caffeine a day. I've never felt better in my life.
You name it. I have tried it: meditation, hypnosis tapes, anti-depressants, exercise, better sleep, counseling, herbs and vitamins of all kinds. None of it worked.
I HAVE A LIFE thanks to Xanax and a great counselor.
