Has anyone out there on SSRI's such as effexor, paxil, zoloft, etc. had any problem with thinning hair? Particularly women? If so, if you discontinue the med. does the hair come back? Thanks!!!

Never, had that happen to me or anyone else that i know. Do you pull out your own hair unknowningly? I just recently was told i do it in my sleep. But, I don't think I have ever heard of a side effect such as you described.

No I don't pull it out. I researched on the web and there is a lot of evidence that it happens but I wanted to know if anyone here has personally experienced it. I didn't have it happen on Paxil, but it happened 3 months after going on Effexor which seems to be the worst one for the hair. Would appreciate it if anyone out there has experienced this please lelt me know.

I have taken meds that have made my hair fall out before.Lithium and depokaote did that to me. Now i take lamactal and that is also one of the side effects and i am noticing my hair starting to thin. It works for my moos swins though and i am hoping the hair thinning is only temporary.

jeanieH4, thank you for telling me your experience. In your opinion, now that I stopped the effexor (a month ago) when would you expect that I can expect my hair to start filling in again? I was put on effexor for nightmares, not even for depression and I am so mad that it caused me such trouble!!
