the beta blocker type meds were developed to reduce blood pressure and for heart problems many years ago but can also be taken as needed for reducing panic attacks, fight or flight anxiety, blushing, sweating, the shakes, etc
they can also be taken daily for several months if needed, as with all meds, the dose needs adjusting
for anxiety sufferers with high blood pressure thay are best but Ive found many of these people not prescribed one
this must be because these meds are all old, out of patent and available in generic. sadly doctors seem to be educated only by the drug companies who dont say anything about a med thats not very profitable for them
so if thinking of trying a beta blocker, you may need to remind the doc about them
I found them useful but I had problems from the first 2 and the third one I tried suits me well, since I have high BP, I still take it daily
it must be stressed that beta blockers reduce the physical but not mental problems of anxiety and panic

While I can see how this is helpful info, Beta blockers are serious drugs.. and I was told by my cardio doc that if you don't have a heart issue you should not take them. Also, if your BP is on the low side.. it can bottom out and you can wind up fainting. Just for your info.

Hey Harry. Yeah I take metoprolol for high bp. I also take citalopram for my anxiety. These two meds help a lot with my anxiety. I also have a tremor which I was hoping the metoprolol was going to help. It does help it a bit but not as much as I had hoped. Sure took care of the high bp though. And it helps me to feel calmer too.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
