4/4/12 I had the stint put in and only had a mild attack. Stayed in the hospital only 1 day after. Now they tell me I have to have the body and tail of the pancreas and the spleen removed. This is very dangerous.They will have to cut me open they can't do it by laser. Anyone else had this done? If so please let me know how bad it is afterward. They also told me I may have pancreas cancer. How can they tell this without the test results? Doctors you can't live without them but boy do they put you through the hoops. Sorry kelsmom I thought I had replied to this earlier today but haven't slept in a couple of days due to pain so maybe i'm just imagining things. What happenned all of a sudden you go from a stent to them wanting to start removing major body parts from you, based on what, and cancer on top of it!!!!!!! I am assuming their telling you all the tests and biopsies and what not they used to determine all this right? I am so sorry my friend if any of it is true and if all then God love you, that just seems like quite a list of things all at once from putting in a stent. I can't help you on how you might feel afterwards unless you count the kidney stone I had removed back in the late 70's before they had all the current tech to remove them without surgery. They split me from backbone to brisket then used rib spreaders to lift my rib cage up out of the way then cut the stone out of my ureter. I woke up feeling like that all sounded run over by a truck and pushing on my nurse call button for all I ws worth. I will say they kept me pumped so full of morphine after I woke I was somewhat better off than most but major surgery is no fun. Now that I've probably ruined your day I'll go away and scare some school kids, lol, be well my friend and vent if you wish or call me names just go for it......Troy

WOW! You sure have alot on your plate. Have you gotten a second or third or fourth opinion about your complicated situation? I'm a firm believer in knowledge and multiple views and doing extensive research even tho I know when you're feeling so very sick and in pain, more drs etc is the last thing you need to battle with. I pray you have someone close to advocate for you when you're in the hospital or at the drs office. If not, there should be a local agency to help you. I needed to utilize social security staff once when I was too sick to fill out all their forms and tax docs. I'm adding you to my prayer list and hope you keep us posted. Please hang in there even if it's minute by minute cuz you will get thru this too. And know that we all are in your corner. Here's hoping for a miracle or at least, a better day. Wendy

I too have been told I might have pancreatic cancer without all the testing. They say because I do not have cp and keep on getting pain and acute pancreatitis it is likely cancer. I am in the process now of getting an appointment at mayo clinic. Why must these doctors torture us before it definate?

They have run all the test and biopicies and now we are just waiting to see if its cancer. The removal of the tail and body of the panceas comes from when he was in there and said the tissue is dead. I think they just remove the spleen to keep down infection. thanks to you all for your replies and your prayers. I will make it through this I just have to I have a husband and 23 beautiful grandchildren I want to still enjoy. God has never let me down yet so I trust in him to keep me safe.
