Yesterday I received a call that my surgery would have to be moved up from Nov. 16th to Nov. 8th!! That was a shock to husband and I. I have become so nervous. I am hurriedly getting my leave paperwork ready. I feel that I have so much to do and so little time. A dear friend tells me that the sooner the surgery the better that means that I will be as good as new even sooner, how sweet. But I am still scared, I understand that it is normal. I just wish I could shake it off.

I can't imagine not being scared syl04127 or shocked at the date being moved up. I can remember the fear each time I was facing such possibility. It is a natural part of being human. Life carries risk. The best we can do is weight the benefits against the risks and decide appropriately. I am certain you, your husband, and your doctors have done that and decided the surgery is the best thing for you because it will improve your quality of life. May the confidence in your process support you both and strengthen a speedy recovery. The fear you "can't shake off" is what has driven you to weigh the options and decide what's best; its presence is a good thing. I hope resting in that knowledge enables great peace. I also wish you wisdom, knowledge, and energy to complete the preparations and that they all go amazingly smoothe. I will be thinking about you on the 8th and sending positive energy your way. I am looking forward to hearing of your pain-free days! :o)

Syl04127, I'm so excited and nervous for you all at once. I know everything will go perfectly. buit I have a tendency to take on others' feelings, so I can all but feel your trepidation. I was in your shoes not long ago when I thought I had the whipple right around the corner. My plans ended up the opposite; now I have a couple months to think about it because my doctor decided to try and hold off a little longer. He wants me to "try" to be able to enjoy the holidays and do the surgery after the first of the year. You will definitely be in my prayers this week and next (not that you all aren't every day), and I be thinking about on the 8th. I can't wait to hear how it went, and can't wait to hear about what it's like to live the "normal" life again. Take care of yourself! xoxo
