I am thinking the pain from an empty stomach is because when your brain or body sense hunger, the digestion process is starting to prepare for food and the pancreas and your tongue(amylase) start producing digestive enzymes. As for intenstinal spasms, I get them all the time although I have not been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis....yet (Mayo Clinic and University of MInnesota)

Rocketman, never thought of it that way. Interesting viewpoint and kinda makes sense.

As for spasms, can't help you. My attacks at times feel like spasms, but I am not sure that is the type of spasms you mean. I also have gastoparesis and that can attribute to it to.

untill this morning i didnt read this thread i missed it some how but just 2 weeks ago i went to hospital thing i was having somewhat of a flare up but tests came back not bad nor did the ct still shows the the big dead spot on the tail of the pancrease but really nothing to serious ..so i told the dr what the heck is causing this pain he said the same as most of yall did it is the bile build up causing ulcers.. i didnt know that this happens i should have read this post... you learn something new everyday here... hey just a thought if we keep this up we might just find an easy way we can all live with this you people have some great ideas .....have a great day all

My husband has often questioned me when I tell him I'm feeling sick and I need to eat something. Since according to the doc eating makes the panc work, which causes the pain. Very interesting to hear about everyones opinion on why it happens!!

Interesting, when I had my first EUS last October I had so many ulcers in my stomach that had healed over, no-one mentioned it could be bile build up etc. They thought I had h-pylori but I tested negative for that
