Obamacare will make your life better. You can keep your insurance, Obama says. Your rates won't go up, Obama says. The President wouldn't lie to us, would he?

Well, I can tell you for a FACT I got a letter and they are not renewing my policy. THAT is a fact. I still have to call my insurance and ask them why...I think it has something to do with the fact that I got it after 3/23/2012 and that is when Obamacare started. I will let you know what happens.

Good Luck! It really sucks that they can do that. Health insurance isn't a luxury, it is a necessity! For a bunch of know nothing politicians to be messing around with it is a crime!

Still waiting to hear what is going on. My insurance is through my husbands work..We still haven't heard anything yet.

The AFFORDABLE CARE ACT doesn't start until Jan 1 2014. I would call your insurance company and see why they are making you choose another plan.....don't assume first....find out the facts.....and let us know. My husband is disabled and at the end of this month is losing his cobra insurance and I just applied to horizon bcbs for an EPO Plan. The rep was honest with me and said they mainly deal with people less than 50 years of age. My husband is 52. I asked her how their coverage was for someone like me that is on medicare and aarp for disability. And she said that my aarp is what I should stick with because they would be more expensive. My husband won't be getting his medicare until march of 2014. Question is your insurance ending on dec 31st of this year? Are you working or disabled? That could be one of the reasons as well. Please give the Affordable Care Act a chance.....everyone is jumping scared instead of getting all the facts first. Everyone was afraid of medicare when that first came out and I am so happy that we have it now....kinks always will have to be worked out on new programs just like the hmo when Clinton was in office. BCBS also said they are having rate changes as well.....so please call and find out what the story is...and again let us know...thanks!

I am still working and have insurance through my employer, but they decided not to renew with BCBS for any plans. Last year, they dropped the plan I had been using and I had to choose another. It sounds to me like Anthem has decided that the plan they're offering you isn't affordable for them to keep offering, even though you are paying a lot they aren't covering their costs. So it's open enrollment time, you can choose a different plan with Anthem, go to the Marketplace (Afford Health care Act- Obamacare) and find a plan or go to a diferent insurance company. With the AHCA pre-existing conditions don't matter, there are no lifetime benefit caps, insurance companies have to spend 85% of the premium collected on actually paying for healthcare for the patient, etc. what matters is the level of coverage you want to pay for. Diane's right, health care reform is needed. The insurance company lobbyists are supporting congress in their current scheme to keep the govt shut down unless they can stop the AHCA because it limits their ability to take advantage of us. Congress doesn't care because they have their own health care plan. the same reason they don't care about SS, they have their own retirement plan.

I would not make any assumptions, call your insurance company and call a few others and find out what's available.
