My story is:
I passed a gall stone into my pancreas in January and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. Once my levels were normal they removed my gall bladder. Because of the acute pancreatitis, I developed a large 6cm x 13cm x 5cm pseudocyst.
I've had two procedures in SF (is it ok to mention Dr names?) EUS and had stents to drain the cyst. Had a CT Scan May 1st which shows the cyst is still there but now 1cm x 5cm x 1.5cm. I may need another EUS.
At first I took enzymes but GI said to take 2 not 3. Then I thought they were making me sick because nobody really explained to me anything I would suffer/experience. I faithfully ate/eat a low fat diet, and kept watching my stools to see if they float. Most of what I learned was from the internet and not the dr, but with the internet there is a lot of conflicting information.
I am not taking enzymes, I have no pain after I eat now, my stools look pretty normal. After my first EUS I went on Cipro which I was convinced was making me ill, so I switched to Bactrim. I started having lots of pain the EUS dr and GI could not understand why. The 2nd EUS showed I developed an Ulcer on my Duodenum duct which explained the pain.
I started taking 2 Nexium a day for the ulcer and after 2 days felt the worse since this whole thing started. Convinced it was the Nexium I was switched to Prilosec. 2 days of nexium I then felt completely normal - very little pain, no more awful nausea. Now I have an appetite, think about food all the time. Still eating low fat diet (under 50g/day)I am losing about a pound a week. went from 138 to 116. Can't seem to keep the weight on but then its hard to do that on a low fat, and (because of ulcer) no dairy no acidic food. They tell me I have Pancreatis. Can you have pancreatitis with no pain? I have so many questions about my future. I have a smaller pseudocyst that has gone from 24mm to 11mm. I have lots more to say, but will stop here and see what kind of replies I get. Question Lee - If I put the 2 stalks of celery in my 2 horse power blender, would that make it easier to digest? I suppose corn would be hard to digest, but what if you pureed it? Does that make the difference in your ability to digest a food?
