ahhhhh the good ole days i remember when i had my first acute pancreatitis then i was good for a year no problems what so ever then i got another it seemed like the first 3 years i only got 1 a year but nothing in between after those 3 years it went downhill quick.

the last 2 years have really gotten out of control with the diabetes and the pain after drinking and eating and now the fatigue..hope not but you may just be a late bloomer like me..lol i believe for the most part we all have the same symptoms as far as the pain,nausea and a few other things but yes alot of us here do have more then others

not a fraud, just enjoy it while you can before "god forbid" it does get worse

Hi Poohtle, I too have mild/early pancreatitis. My lipase/amylase are only slightly beyond the end of normal range, and most days, I feel 85% ok with only a chronic dull abdominal ache. I have been diagnosed by EUS and take Pancrease daily. That, along with watching my diet, has kept me moving along. I must say that the other replies here are very unnerving. Is it a given that symptoms progress like that? Or do other factors come into play as well? Please don't unnerve us newbies! Give us some hope! Life is complicated enough without taking away hope.

Thank you for replying. I usually feel so useless in commenting on all these heartbreaking posts. I do feel they give us hope though in showing what great people they are dealing with what they have and showing what options are available as and when we might need them. I hope I will be so positive. I guess we know we will progress but hopefully it will be slow.
It is good to hear someone similar to me, but sorry you have CP. As I said I have recently been feeling a bit of a fraud with the pain disappearing suddenly. I think all I can do is keep on with doing the right things and wait and see. It is a good feeling right now though.

Please do not give up hope!!! My Pancreatitis is genetic related and I always get doomed reports from my doctors....that I will get Diabetes anytime now....that I will need a pancreas and liver transplant....it never ends!! I always have pain....been on Oxycodone....and felt I was losing myself! I dont recommend this to anyone...but I am hoping I can give some hope.....day 4 of no Oxycodone...1st 3 days were rough!! Taking ibruprofen instead...takes the edge off....watching my fat intake and carb intake like a hawk...And today I feel like the fog has lifted...my spirits are better....mind clearer...pain still there but tolerable. So from March where I thought and felt like i was dying on insulin drip and blood transfusion....to feeling I can do this.....at least it gives me some hope and hopefully to you guys as well! I have had pancreatitis for a little over 2 years. I have been hospitalized twice. The first time I had a pancreatic pseudocyst with phelgmon. I was in the hospital for 20-21 days.

I had my gallbladder out about a month after being released from the hospital that first time. My incisions got infected and I got a hernia in one of those incisions. I had to go back and have a hernia repair. All the time I just kept having pain in the same area as when I had pancreatitis.

I then went in for an EUS which showed sludge in the main duct, I was told I needed an ERCP but I have refused.

In June I had another severe attack and ended up in the hospital again. My amylase was over 4,000 and my lipase was over 31,000.

I still have not had a diagnosis of CP but my doctor says I have a 50% chance of ended up back in the hospital within the next year, unless I get the ERCP.

Is it CP... I don't know. I am told right now it is idiopathic... Me... I just think my doctor is an idiot... oops did I say that.

Oh yeah.. I forgot. Two weeks ago my G.I. doc put me on dexilant for the pain. After taking it a week I have very low pain. I'm not sure if it's the dexilant or the fact that I am eating mostly mushy oatmean and plain non fat no sugar yogurt.

Who knows?

I have not have an official diagnosis either but I had a pancreas specialist tell me that he thought it was my pancreas while all other doctors and tests have never confirmed it.

poohtle, have you been seen and diagnosed by a gastroenterologist? i also showed nothing on ultrasound and (something like) an MRI, but was diagnosed from my lipase and amylase levels. my gastro said i'm ideopathic for now, but there's some evidence it may be genetic, as my son was diagnosed with pancreatitis at 12, and my grandmother suffered from mysterious stomach pain over many years.

anyway... i continued having pain, but never elevated levels. finally went in when the pain had been even worse than usual, and insisted she do something. lol. turned out i had two different kinds of ulcers not related to the pancreatitis. have probably had ulcers for years. the pain was practically the same. treated them with 2 antibiotics for 3 weeks, and have felt fine since.

I haven't been seen by any Gastro's since I had my GB out. My GP didn't want to refer me at first so did some tests and though the Ultrasound showed nothing and blood tests were OK, he knew my history having seen me through it, my worsening symptoms, and diagnosed CP. However he is now going to refer me which I am pleased about, but it won't be until after our long vacation that was booked before the diagnosis and for which I have travel insurance cover. My GP has never been funny about pain medication and helped my fears about addiction as I wouldn't take much at first. I am scared of having to see medics who don't know too much about the pancreas and behave like some I read on here and elsewhere.

Poohtie...My daughter wants to take me to Europe.....and I am hesitant...but if I decide to go I would take along my most recent medical reports etc...also my medicine and diagnoses list as well as a recommendation from my GI dr to explain how he treats one of my flare-ups with his tele# so that they could call him if needed.
