Not sure if this reponse helps you. Good luck and welcome to the site. Hopefully we will all learn from each other.
Transari, your post is fine. Any info is much appreciated. I won't sit here and say I know it all, but I do know quite a lot about my disease as I lived with someone who had it and I saw and learned things. I just like hearing from others and sharing. I am on Creon. I actually just got put back on it. It makes a big difference for sure.
I am allergic to fish but I sometimes eat eggs or chicken for protein. (Not often). I try to cut my food in tiny tiny pieces. or smash it up, or puree it so that it's easier to digest.
Since my last hospitalization in June I've had huge problems with GERD. So I am on Dexilant which is beginning to help. The doctor says it will take 6-8 weeks for the Dexilant to heal whatever it is that needs to be healed so I'll be in a little pain until then.
Yes, some days just eating anything hurts and on those days I switch to clear liquids.
I'm guessing that's why maybe y'all can eat some things on one day and the next it will bother you. Perhaps on the days it bothers you it has nothing to do with what you ate but more to do with what condition your pancreas or digestive systen is in. I read somewhere that although many of us have an acute attack right after eating it's not usually what we just ate that caused the attack. From what I understand it takes hours to days for the swelling in the pancreas to bring on a full blown attack.
Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone. I tend to ramble sometimes on here during a difficult day.
Thank you so much.
You made me smile :)
And I wanted to agree with how frustrating it is to eat something once or twice and then it makes you hurt the next time you eat it! That happens to me all the time!
Hope this helps too
Typically my diet is liquids, baby food, eggs, rice, yogurt, and bland foods like saltines or noodles. I got a juicer and make my own fruit and veggie juices too. On the rare occasions I do cook real food it's without the good stuff like butter. Oh how I miss butter.
Dairy and meat seem to cause me the most problems and I stay away from those as much as possible.
I do occasionally have a day when I get so frustrated that I say screw it and eat something that I know is bad. Like icecream...never ends well. Pain has been a big motivator though and this doesn't really happen any more.
