Hey Everyone,
I seem to see a common thread here that people loose weight, then the doc puts them on Enzymes, which doesn't necessarily make the pain go away, but stops them from loosing weight. My doc is still teetering on the CP diagnosis and will not put me on enzymes so I've bought some OTC. Although OTC they are good enzymes and powerful. I've been taking them and still loosing weight although my calories are up where they should be. It is possible that I don't even need them but giving them a try. Anyone else in the same boat?

I am on enzymes for a pancreatic insufficiency. They don't directly help you to gain weight. Enzyme therapy is supposed to alleviate the symptoms caused by the inability to absorb food. Some people will gain weight back by absorbing food better, but not always. Or weight gain after enzymes could likely be due to a reduction in symptoms making it easier to get enough calories. I regularly struggle to maintain a healthy weight, but am not in pain like I would be if I missed a dose of my enzymes. Also, over the counter enzymes are far from the equivalent of prescription. There's no way I could function on enzymes purchased at the store. Hope that somehow helps answer your questions.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
