Upper left stabbing pain about an inch under breast sometimes ping pongs to the right-a very deep pain. Also pain mid back to the right of my spine deep stabbing most horrific make you fall to your knees pain.

My lipase is alway always mildly elevated from 30 pts to 2x normal.

Have you had an EUS or S-MRCP? 10 yrs is a long time, Id think imaging would show something off at this point.

No, but I did have an ERCP that didn't show anything. This was about 7 years ago. Maybe it's time to go through all the tests again.

It seems that the pain caused by this disease differs greatly, I have also not been diagnosed but after a year of constant rib and back pain both sides, mainly right sided epigastric pain and occasionally sharp jabs in my left side, nausea and diarrhea, my doctor finally said we may have to look at your pancreas, have been saying that for the past six months but have been told no way you would be in hospital, I am not sure if I have ever had an acute attack just some nasty stomach bugs? over the yrs. Have had so many tests which are all normal but in pain all the time., sometimes get relief by lying flat which doctors say doesn't happen with pancreatitis.
Have read so many posts in this group and wonder what happened to all the people who were here for yrs, did they get sicker or improve, hopefully they improved, can't seem to find much that is positive about this disease.
BTW, did drink white wine most days, more on weekends up until about 2 yrs ago so I guess that adds to me thinking CP but sure hope not.

Getting lipase is very telling-so I recommend get that test to see if there is any elevation

Had my amylase tested, normal result, not sure about lipase, my doctor just said all tests normal. I live in Australia and we can't make appointments with specialists ourselves, we need a referral , I am seeing my third GI now so frustrating I have pain all day,mainly in ribs and back, so much wind (gas) and nausea, it's getting very depressing.

At first mine were very bad cramps. Now the cramps are gone and its like someone stuck their hand in my stomach and held on. Mine generally goes away when I have tea or soup . Hot things seem to make it go away

Keep in mind I don't have a diagnosis yet but this is how it all went down for me with pain.

Mine started with a 'tickle' in my back between my shoulderblades which did not exist in the morning and got worse by night. That has slowly got worse daily. By supper time it is rough.

A few months after that I started getting serious stomach pain after I ate and that never went away. it was like someone punched me in the stomach or I ate something that really didn't agree with me. Proton pump inhibitors help with the stomach pain.

Next came pain in the ribs at the bottom of the sternum. After I eat and for hours and hours later, I get pain here and if feels like someone poured acid just under my left ribs. It hurts.

Lastly, I have pain in my sides and where I think my kidneys are. If I take my finger and press on a spot on either side of my mid back, the pain is excruciating.

And there you have it.. my pain :-).

I have the same pain in the back as described by yeuker where it is between the shoulder blades and in the morning is not too bad but as day goes on seems to get worse especially if I don't stick to a low fat diet. Also I have yet to be diagnosed but have had many of the normal tests for pancreatitis and all have come back as normal but Dr has prescribed pain meds and said to stick to low fat diet.

Does anyone find that movement makes the pain much worse, sitting is also uncomfortable for me, lying flat seems to help a bit and I rarely have pain at night

No movement does not agitate mine. Laying flat usually causes more pain with pancreatitis...

It starts with back pain around the ribs and moves to the front of my chest. I feel like I'm full of gas and if I could pass it, I'd be alright. But no gas passes and I can't lay down (hurts more). I then have diarrhea and sick to my stomach. If the later two happen, I call the ambulance to take me to the hospital.

I've had 3 attacks in the past 8 years. I've had my gull bladder removed, but it hasn't stopped the attacks. It usually goes for 3 to 4 years between attacks.

Just an update. Recently had a CT scan. Radiologist said he saw something in the head of the pancreas which would indicate pancreatic cancer. Then on MRI with contrast, he decided there was nothing there or nothing to worry about. My internist wants me to come in to check a few more things. So alas, once again, I am no CPer but it's better than being a PCer!

That is scary. My Father had PC so I am watched very closely. Honestly, if I were you I would demand and EUS and a CA 19 lab (though it can be slightly elevated with inflammation AND sometimes those with PC do not carry the protein to raise it so can cause a false neg too). I would just want to be 100% sure. Ive been through LOADS of testing and will be undergoing more to make sure PC is not lurking.

BTW you should always get copies of your reports too. My GI said one of my tests showed a few things but I didn't know I had a cyst on my pancreas until I got the report-thats a big deal.
