When I first came to this board and read all the horrible things most of you are going through, I was terrified. I just want to give hope to those who, like me, who came here looking for answers after my first Acute Pancreatitis attack and thought my life was over.
Fortunately for me, I'm getting much better. I still watch my fat intake. I've lost 22 pounds and I'm at an ideal weight. I'm starting to gain weight back which at some point I thought would never happen. I don't want to gain it back, and being on the low fat diet has forced me to eat more healthy foods and more to the point, eat less of the stuff that's bad for all humans.
I have no pain now. I've been off PPI - Prilosec for 2 weeks now and I'm happy to report that my stools are looking more and more normal every day. Even before I passed a gall stone into my pancreas my stools were yellow and orange for years and like soft serve and turned to a powdery mess in the toilet when I flushed(sorry TMI) but now they are more formed, browner and I'm happy about that.
I'm taking Probiotics now, drinking Aloe Vera juice, Odwalla supper greed food drink and make a shake every morning which includes things like fresh beets, cucumbers, carrot, spinach and fruits.
I don't know when I will get the nerve to have a sip of wine, maybe not for a long time. Its a shame because I live 10 minutes from Napa! Not sure I will eat a hamburger again or beef steak. But that's ok.
I will go for a CT scan in 3 months to see how my psuedocyst is doing and my blood clot. (my cyst was very large at 13 cm and last CT was only 5cm)
I have my trip to England planned for August to see my new grandbaby. I was so afraid to go, but I think I will be fine.
If this is your first attack from maybe a gall stone, or because of your gall bladder, there is hope. Just wanted to share that. Be very strict with your diet. DONT cheat.

We live near Napa too-in Walnut Creek. Do you have a gastro dr you like? Im having problems finding one that understands this disease.
I used to live in Turtle Creek and then near Oak Grove Rd and Treat.
I go to Sutter Medical in Fairfield, but the dr that did my 2 EUS/stents is Dr Binmoeller in SF. If you google him, he has invented or helped improve many procedures. If you need a procedure done, I would recommend him.
I go to Dr Maqbool at Sutter in Fairfield. I didn't have any complications to speak of so I don't know how the degree of care I would have gotten from her if things would have progressed. I'm one of the lucky ones. Almost feel guilty about that after reading the misery some of you have to live with.
No damage has shown on my scopes yet. I get a secretion in a few wks at stanford
I've gained 3 pounds and haven't really changed my diet as I am still eating the same stuff. I suppose I am adding more, but certainly not enough to gain weight. I guess this is just my body adusting.
My hair was falling out by the handfulls and that has slowed down alot.
I suppose the only way to know if my pancreas is healed and ALL BETTER is a cat scan. When I go to London, I will be very careful about my diet and when I get home, may try adding more fat. Sure would like a greasy slice of pizza!. I make my own, but not the same.
