Hi, I'm new here to the pacemaker group. I was wondering how long each of you has had your PM ?
Do any of you belong to other pacemaker forums/message boards? I belong to two others that are fairly active.

Hi Sue,

I have an ICD which is part pacemaker part defibrillator.. I've had mine since 1997.. I'm actually on my third one.. and this one is giving me some problems but we're working through it.

What other support groups online do you belong too?

I've had mine since July 2006.
I belong to implantable.com and also pacemakerclub.com. I hardly think about it anymore, although I might feel differtly about an ICD. Has yours ever gone off, Renee?

My pacemaker is also part ICD. Mine has never gone off.

I had my vns pacemaker since 1999 for seizures
no I do not belong to any other websites my ex tricked me into this to help patients that want the vns pacemaker for seizure disorders.

I got my Medtronic ICD in Nov 2006. I got one of the bad ones. They decided to turn the settings lower instead of changing it. All my checkups have been ok so far. It's never gone off, but I woke up one night sleeping on my stomach, I'd had what they called a Bump. When the ICD got crowded it went into a little bump. Didn't hurt at all. I try to sleep on my side or back.

I've had my Pacemaker since July..then had a revision in July!!! My lead shifted. I usually feel okay but get dizzy spells that my Cardio guy says has nothing to do with the Pacemaker. I had a 3rd degree block out of the blue the weekend of the 4th. Anyone else get dizzy?

That's funny....I USED to get dizzy before I got the pacemaker. But, not anymore.

Hi Nana,

Yes it has gone off twice in May and that is when they put a new medtronic Dual Chamber device in and added an Atrial lead- never had a problem before but now this new atrial lead is really bugging me... ugh

The shocks them self are scary but you get a sense of thank goodness I had my device otherwise I wouldn't be here.. :)

I just had mine done last year after I had an Atrial Fib episode and was identifed as having Sick Sinus Syndrone. Having a tough time with the concept of having this "thing" in my chest, I've always been active and healthy, now this.

Most people with pacemakers are healthy and active. And many don't hsve any other heart abnormalities.

I never even think about mine anymore until every July I need to see my EP cardiologist for my annual interogation.

Hope you're not having problems getting it tweaked or fine-tuned.

It is weird at first to know you have something foreign in your body like the pacemaker. I promise you will get used to it and you won't even think about it except to follow the rules about MRIs, airport security, etc. Good luck, Jason.

I'm sorry, I made an error in my last post. I go to my regular cardiologist annually, not my EP. I see my EP twice a year for a pacemaker check.
Just setting the record straight.

I have had my CRT biv pacemaker since august 2008
I am also a member of another forum pacemakerclub.com
which is a very informative site for everyone with a pacemaker

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
