boomer, the Dems did not have complete control for two years - they had a slight majority. Not enough to push legislation through without getting a few Republicans to cross the aisle and help them out. Republicans were able to fillbuster everything which is why so little got through.

There was a period when Obama and John Boehner were working on creating a suitable budget that would've been to each party's liking (with tax increases and program cuts) but the extreme Conservatives got their noses out of joint with Boehner about it so it got dropped. As Bill Clinton said at the DNC, even he never experienced the amount of hatred the GOP has for Obama and it wasn't like he and the GOP got along all that well. But back then they both could at least agree on things for the sake of the country. What we have now is one party that has made its sole mission over the last 3 1/2 years to keep this President from getting a second term. It's no wonder things are so screwy when our elected leaders think it's more important to hold grudges and vendettas than to do what it necessary to get our country back to a healthy state of affairs.

Also, during Obama's tenure there have been more jobs created than during 8 years with Bush. Maybe not at the rate we would like, but they are being created. The Stimulus may not have helped things "roar" back but it stopped a possible depression - but for it to have had a greater impact it would've needed to have been even bigger which the Republicans were not willing to agree to.

Hate such a strong word. Yes yes it is all those hateful Republicans fault. As far as the stimulus keeping us going into a deeper recession who knows as we don't have proof of the alternative.

If all we do is blame than nothing ever gets accomplished and that includes the president on down. Our country is on the wrong track and so far the two men wanting our votes to either stay or become president have not in any which way given us specific details of a plan.
