So, i had my last chemo treatment in april, and got to ring the bell.... c-125 was at 11, very few side affects from the chemo. it seemed remission was sure thing. that was not the case. i went for my ct-scan last week, and went to doctor today for results. he says there are 2 spots . one on my liver, and the other on my colon. so i have to go to the next kind of chemo treatment, and he wants me to be a part of a study. along with the chemo i am going to get anyway. there is a 50/50 chance i will also be given this new drug that is supposed to boost my immune system, and the effectiveness of the chemo. i wont know if i have been given the new drug or not.
i was /am very upset by this news, and asked why he couldnt go in and remove these spots , then follow up with the chemo. he basically just said thats not how its done, and this is the procedure.
i still do not understand the need for a pelvic at every visit either, and i even asked him at one visit, what happens if it comes back in my liver or other area you cant feel with a pelvic? i was told "we will just give you more chemo".

I hope you get in the test group because it will benefit you and, in fact, all women who are struggling with this disease. Several women in my ovarian cancer alliance group have gone out of remission and are in various stages of treatment. If there is such a group in your area, you might want to contact them as it will give you an opportunity to talk with women who understand what you're going through. Check with the local cancer society in your area and see is there is a group neary.

a pelvic exam has not been part of my treatment and I wonder if it is a routine exam for others. I only had one 6 weeks post surgery. with the spots on your colon and liver it wouldn't seem necessary.

i will continue to question the pelvic exams as i really feel there is no need. i even got one, AND a rectal, a week after the CT-scan. this makes no sense to me at all. the only answer i get is " to check the pelvic area " and when i remind them that there is nothing in the pelvic area, i get " the pelvic wall" still makes no sense to me.
