I'd be interested in knowing if any of you have encountered major dental problems after going through chemo. I lost a bridge yesterday, and my doctor said that chemo can affect the teeth. He also said that if a person has had radiation, that can affect the options they have when they replace the bridge.

i have heard that dental issues will come up with both chemo, and radiation, it has not happened to me yet, but im expecting it. i hope they can fix your problem.

My dentist says that chemo can cause problems but I haven't had anything major except I broke a tooth that was on a post. I don't think that had anything to do with chemo though. My dentist gave me a prescription for a flouride toothpaste that has something to prevent drymouth. Best wishes, Janet

I had to have 5 fillings after my last round of chemo which were mainly on the gum line, the dentist told me to use Colgate neutra fluor 5000 plus and not to rinse after the night time brush. I'm due for another check up now and am terrified the dentist will find more fillings to be done. I would advise anyone who is starting chemo to go and get your teeth checked because chemo can be a problem for some procedures.

Thanks for the information you all provided. I appreciate it. I'm taking it in perspective that I lost my bridge. Two years ago I was in the hospital on my birthday having chemo, and this year I lost my teeth. I'm glad it is only my teeth this year.

I think there should be a tooth fairy for us seniors, I would be a millionare (lol). Perhaps a senior tooth fairy with no teeth.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
